The temple fulfills prophecy: “The Prophet Elijah was to plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to their fathers, foreshadowing the great work to be done in the temples of the Lord in the dispensation of the fulness of times, for the redemption of the dead” (D&C 138:47-48).The temple fulfills prophecy: “And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths” (Isaiah 2:3).For a baptismal font there is not upon the earth, that they, my saints, may be baptized for those who are dead” (D&C 124:28-29). The early Saints were commanded: “For there is not a place found on earth that may come to and restore again that which was lost unto you, or which he hath taken away, even the fulness of the priesthood. “I will show unto my servant Joseph all things pertaining to this house, and the priesthood thereof, and the place whereon it shall be built” (D&C 124:42). The temple is built on a piece of ground chosen by God.“Organize yourselves prepare every needful thing and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God” (D&C 88:119). ![]()
